Theme Officer (Latin America)

Edie McCarren (she/her/hers) is a second-year history and Spanish student at Hertford College who will be a thematic events officer on this year's committee. Her main interests in the field include how diplomacy can be used to tackle some of the most pressing global issues, such as the climate crisis and democratic backsliding. She is also interested in Hispanic affairs and politics in both Spain and Latin America. She is most excited to work as part of the committee and the events team to help organise the society's broadest and most exciting events programme yet, with interesting speakers and workshops, but also a big focus on the society's social side!
