About Oxford Diplomatic Society
Our Story
The Oxford Diplomatic Society is Oxford’s first society uniting students and professionals to tackle the future of diplomacy in the 21st century. The society was founded in 2020 by Tiril Høye Rahn as the COVID-19 pandemic unfolded; challenging diplomacy as we knew it. Together with Nico Han and Munib Mesinovic, the Oxford Diplomatic Society set out to build a space for students and community members to engange in challenging conversations through the lens of diplomacy and foreign policy with both senior and career diplomats.
With over 50 speaker events, workshops, embassy visits, high-profile meetings, and ball in London we now have over 1,000 members and have been dubbed Oxford’s ‘fastest growing society’. The Oxford Diplomatic Society has also secured a partnership with Hertford College's John Porter Diplomacy Centre which will sustain this momentum.
A Message from the Founder
I founded this society for Oxford University students and beyond to learn, interact and engage within the field of diplomacy.
Diplomacy remains a crucial tool for peace and mutual understanding. As the field of diplomacy is expanding, so should our conversations. Oxford Diplomatic Society was created to host a rich and diverse network of ideas and solutions. Our members and guest speakers reflect that.
I have four strong principles I live by: curiosity, diversity, listening, and collective solutions. I am making it my mission to apply these within my work as the founder and former president.
Our members, sponsors, advisors, and board of excellencies all make the society what it is today.
Welcome to the Oxford Diplomatic Society.
